Alan Turing, more than a statistic

Alan Turing lived in a time when homosexuality was considered illegal.

Disregarding his world changing accomplishments he was forced to choose between imprisonment or "chemical castration" when it was discovered he had a relationship with another man.

Two years later he would be found dead, apparently from eating a cyanide-laced apple.

Many say it was suicide, some suggest otherwise.

Alan Turing was a hero. He led the British codebreaking team that broke the German Enigma Code, thereby shortening World War II, saving many lives, and helping the Allies to win the war. Turing is considered the father of computer science.

In those days and in many places these days, it doesn't matter what you have accomplished; if you are homosexual you are unworthy!

A movement is underway to recognize Alan Turing for his accomplishments. We are asking that he be recognized by the Queen of England. Click here to nominate Alan Turing for recognition by the Queen of England.
