Salt Lake City Kissing Protest

As we heard recently two gay men were assaulted by Mormon security, detained and issued citations by the Salt Lake city police simply because of a peck on the cheek.

Of course we all know about Mormon bigotry and hypocrisy all to well.

But there is an interesting story behind the property in question.

The property is the Salt Lake City Main Street Plaza. It is not fenced since the city retains public easement right of way.

But the fact the property even belongs to the church is appauling.

Back when the property was sold to the church the majority of Salt Lake city council members were mormons. In fact, the only two city council members who were not mormons voted against it.

Speaking of voting, it's a bit ironic that the mormons obtained this property without the vote of the citizens in Salt Lake city.

The mormons who feel so strongly that the people should vote on marriage rights obviously don't feel it's important for people to vote on property rights.

Interesting how their opinion changes when it is in there benefit huh?

Due to this whole fiasco citizens have been holding "kiss-ins" in the area.
