Even though the religionist failed at taking away the everything-but-marriage rights in Washington state, they are still fighting a battle.
They are challenging state election rules that require the release of names and addresses of people who sign petitions.
A district court has already ruled against them. Of course the religionist appealed. In mid January The Supreme Court will decide if they will hear the case or not.
In the mean time, State Representative Reuven Carlyle is introducing new legislation to clarify that petitions are public record.

US Supreme Court Justice Blocks Washington State petition signers
US Supreme Court Justice Blocks Washington State petition signers
Round and round we go….
It seems the Washington State Referendum 71 petition signers wish to hide behind secrecy.
Never mind the Referendum process is a “petition process”, not a “secret ballot”; United States Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy has temporarily blocked Washington state officials from releasing the names of people who signed petitions against gay rights.
Never mind the official affidavit to initiate the petition process clearly states:
“Please be aware that all information on this affidavit is public record and is subject to public disclosure.”
Some evidently feel it is acceptable to hide bigotry in the shadows.
Perhaps they know bigotry will always fail a simple test, the “light of day”.
So, as you can see, we have traveled full circle. For now, we our proud and the bigots hide in the dark shadows.
But don’t be dismayed, the struggle continues.
