May 17 thru May 24 (Monday-Friday) Gay Talk Radio and Queer Public Radio will offer some of our highlights since November 2008. In .doing so we hope to convince you of our worth and impact. Of course it is a further hope you will be able to help our voice stay strong, loud and long.On this page we will post podcasts of our 5 day pledge week marathon. Gay Talk Radio and Queer Public Radio announce Pledge Drive Week
Starting Monday May 17, 2010 Gay Talk Radio and our sister site Queer Public Radio will be asking for your help. Our pledge drive will start around 10 AM PT/1 PM ET and last approximately 4 to 6 hours Monday through Friday.
Since November 2, 2008 Gay Talk Radio has strived to inform, entertain, empower and make a difference in our community. We are proud to announce we have achieved all of these goals. Of course we have no way of knowing all the lives we have affected. But we do know of several we have affected in very positive ways.
During pledge week you will hear some of these stories. You will hear the actual phone calls. Phone calls that made a difference for that person. In fact, sometimes it had nothing to do with the phone call. Sometimes it was the simple fact that Gay Talk Radio does exist. That there was someone talking about gay issues on an internet radio station specifically devoted to that purpose.
Imagine being a young gay man, feeling alone and isolated in the world. After you tell you parents you’re gay, they throw you out of the house. You go to your priest. The priest finds you a place to stay and tells you about Gay Talk Radio. You don’t believe there is such a thing and when you find out there is, it is an epiphany. A epiphany which saves your life!
That is a true story and you will hear about it this week during our pledge drive. These are serious times and this is a very important week for Gay Talk Radio. One which quite possibly may be the deciding factor to Gay Talk Radio’s continued existence.
We know we have done so much good and wish to continue doing so. Unfortunately that won’t be possible without your help. The bad economy has hit us very hard and while we will fight tooth and nail, good intentions won’t pay the bills.
So we are asking for your help during or pledge week.

Video: Details of Contest To Win Free DVD- College Boys Live
I have been asked to provide more details of the contest so here it is.
Queer Public Radio and Gay Talk Radio are giving away two free copies of the recently released movie College Boys Live. The trailer is at the end of this posting.
The contest will run for the entire month of May. During May, Gay Talk Radio will announce keywords and/or phrases for the contest. Simple jot down the ones you hear. At the end of the contest I will ask you to email your results. I will tally up the results and the two people with the highest number of correct clues will be mailed a DVD.
This mailing will be done through the postal service. If you are not willing to provide a mailing address please do not participate in the contest. In the event that someone wins who is unwilling to provide a mailing address the DVD will go to the next highest score.
There will most likely be close to 50 clues provided during the month. These clues will be provided live on Gay Talk Radio at any time and in most podcasts. Two clues were provided last Saturday night during the live mixathon. Since the live mixathon is not a podcast, if you didn’t get them you already missed two clues.
Here is a little more break down on the clues. Each in-production show on Gay Talk Radio will provide two clues a week (Pinklatex, Humpday Coffee, Gaytalk Live). These are all available by podcast so it won’t be difficult to obtain those clues.
However, there will also be 4 non-podcast clues provided each week during our 24/7 broadcast schedule. Additionally, two non-podcast clues will be provided on the mixathon Saturday night show.
That’s 12 clues per week, 6 during podcast shows and 6 at non-podcast airtimes.
We ask that you be at least 18 years-old to enter the contest (the video is rated for 18 year-old's and above).

My brother has been writing songs for as long as I can remember. He is a songwriter, first and foremost. He willingly admits he is not a singer and hopes someday, someone with a good voice will perfom his song(s). And if they make a buck out of it, hopefully they’ll remember where the song came from.

Gay Talk Radio / Queer Public Radio is considering the possibility of a daily 'indie hour'. If we can gather enough content we would love to support independent artist by airing their material.
If you'd like your material included, please email your content to tom@gaytalkradio.org
Please note email attachments on a single email message should not exceed 10 MB total.
Feel free to put a introduction prior to your material. You can tell a little about yourself and/or just provide them with a website. Please do not provide the introduction in a separate file. Include it at the beginning of the song.

Paul and Hjordy are two retired public school teachers. Both of their sons came out to them at the age of 19.
Their book "Ready Or Not, They're Gay" is the story of how they dealt with the news which launched them into LGBTQI activism.
It was an honor speaking with these two wonderful people.
