I haven’t bought a single Christmas present. I’m so broke. FML

The other day I noticed a tweet on twitter that summed up one of the reasons I don’t like Christmas. The tweet said something like

“I haven’t bought a single Christmas present. I’m so broke. FML”

This one little statement addresses so many things that are wrong about Christmas. For those of you who may not be sure what FML means I believe it means F*ck My Life.

First off, with the recent teen bullycides, I became a bit worried for this person. So I replied to her tweet with “Maybe we should start a club”, hoping to put a smile on her face.

As evident by her tweet, Christmas makes many people feel like they are losers because they can’t afford to buy presents.

The television, radio and internet blast out advertisements for Christmas gifts around the clock. Sending the message loud and clear that the ability to buy pre$ent$ directly reflects on your self worth as a person.

Which is basically mirroring a societal mindset; the size of your bank account is the supreme ‘measuring stick’ of your value as a person.

I often speak of greed; Christmas has become a cheerleader for greed.

We all know the crime and suicide rates climb during this holiday and this pass/fail emphasis on gifts is a key factor.

When a father will go out and commit a crime, in order to ‘meet his gift buying obligations’ we have a problem.

When a person commits suicide because of Christmas, and their lack to adequately participate, depresses them; we have a problem.

Noticed I said WE?

I’m sure some are thinking, why is that my problem?

People of this mindset are the ones that will be screaming the loudest when they need help and they will substantially raise the volume when they don’t get help. Interesting enough they forget their previous mindset of ‘why is that my problem’!

This, my friends, is division! Division is calculated and blueprinted by many in power. It’s a way of keeping the general population ‘off balance’ making them (us) easier to control.

I try to live by the ‘do unto others…’ motto. So I must say to people with a selfish mindset; if you can’t extend a helping hand to others in hard times why would you expect anyone else to reach out to you during your hard times?

Over and over we have heard people through the ages state anything that affects one of us affects all of us.

There is strength in numbers. In other words, we are one human family on the face of this globe and we need to work together in unison.
