Openly gay city councillor Tim Stevenson will represent Vancouver at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, CBC News has learned. The decision to send Stevenson rather than Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson came after much debate about how Vancouver would respond to RussiaĆ¢€™s crackdown on gay and lesbian citizens.
Gay and lesbian rights activists are seeking to be the new "moral enforcers" and it is Christian religious conservatives who now need protection for their right to express dissent against "the new orthodoxy", the Court of Appeal was told today.
Gay rights in Israel, also commonly referred to as LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) rights, are considered the most inclusive and progressive in the Middle East and Asia and, in some cases, more progressive than many Western countries.
