India: Gay Muslim Professor Death Questioned

Dr. Shrinivas Ramchndra Siras was 64. He taught at a Muslim University (Aligarth Muslim University) in India.

A while back we heard news about his students and a local television crew entering the professors residence to film him having sex.

In that article the professor stated this was all by design. The school was trying to deprive him of his pension(he was retiring soon).

The university suspended him and asked him to leave his university apartment. A court recently reversed that decision.

The Indian Express reported it had spoken to the professor on Monday evening after the suspension was lifted.

"I want to go to America, I want to teach them Marathi. Not the literature, the language. America is the only place where I will be free to be gay,” he was quoted as saying.

On Wednesday he was found dead at his home.

Police believe he may have committed suicide, although the results of a post mortem examination were inconclusive.

There is something very fishy about this whole story.

Indian gay NGO's are now circulating a petition asking the President of India to delve more profondly into this case:
