Our governmental system was laid out with good intentions.
We have been told there are simply to many people and it would be impossible to realistically tender a secure and reliable vote. Of course that was the original argument for governmental representatives of the people. They were streamlining the system of that day. Making it more efficient and less costly. It was a good thing then. Is it still a good thing?
In that day they still had horse and buggies.
Now our government has become so large perhaps the government needs another level of government to govern them?
It’s only our money they are spending. No need to worry about that. We can just work harder at half the salary we deserve, if we can find a job. And don’t forget, you need to give our government 30% (or more) of what you earn.
Many of us who live in the ‘real world’ know that many workers are expected to do more for less these days. Positions with added responsibilities so the company can fire someone and have another worker pick up the load, without an increase in pay. Often this results in the loss of the employee.
Then the company starts advertising for this position and has issues with replacement employees since the requirements of the position are now unfair, unjust and unacceptable.
This is just one example of a bad economy. Many can’t find jobs. Companies are hurting and need to get more with less in attempt to continue giving the CEO his big check and annual bonuses.
And the cycle of greed continues. Once again, those that have get more. Those that don’t have get less. A great canyon separates the two. The erosion, caused by greed, widens the gap separating the two.
Those without continue to receive less. Surely there must be a breaking point.
So many of us who wish to ‘believe in mankind’ look for a day. Perhaps a day when one of those of the other side walk to the edge of the gap and realize they can no longer see those of us on the this side. Perhaps on that day, that very clever person will stand and make a difference. Perhaps on that day, work will begin on a bridge for all of humanity. The one true brotherhood and sisterhood; Our one true human family.
